What to do with the amazing amount of food studies that, thanks to the internet, are now at our fingertips? It seems like every day a new study comes out that says the exact opposite of the study that came out the day before. Studies, especially the this-is-healthy-this-is-not variety, are incredibly inconsistent, and tend to “prove” exactly what they set out to prove. The only thing this proves to me is that there’s always more to learn, and there’s no right answer for everyone. People convinced themselves for years that egg white omelets were tasty and filling, and then, guess what? The entire egg is really good for you, and is a good part of a healthy diet. Eating foods high in cholesterol doesn’t automatically translate to high bloodstream cholesterol (go ahead! eat some shrimp!).
My advice would be to take each new “study” that comes out with a huge grain of salt. Figure out what works well for you and makes you feel nourished, energized, and healthy. And once you’ve figured that out, do your best to ignore all the new articles that pour in every day.
